Whether the vaccine works or not, you will still need PPE in 2021

When it comes to COVID-19, a vaccine in itself is a form of PPE —just at a molecular level. Vaccines protect you from the virus by creating an immunological barrier that not only reduces the likelihood of you catching the disease but also decreases the risk of disease spread.

So, How do Vaccines Work?

A vaccine contains parts, often inactive, of a viral pathogen. These parts are called antigens, and when introduced to the body, they will trigger an immune response. Perhaps one crucial point to bear in mind is that an antigen holds the blueprint for disease. As it’s inactive, it will not cause disease, but as it is the same molecular structure as a real viral pathogen, it can trigger an immune response. So what happens during an immune response? The body has a natural ability to create antibodies in response to an immune reaction. The cool thing about vaccines is that it allows the body to create antigen-specific antibodies without causing disease. Yearly or frequent vaccination ensures memory cells’ development, which really just reminds or trains your body to create antibodies when the pathogen is encountered once again.

The Concept of Herd Immunity

Understanding the concept behind herd immunity is vital to our understanding of both PPE and vaccination. Vaccinations are designed for healthy individuals, those with an already adequate to strong immune system. Immune-compromised people, i.e., cancer or HIV patient, don’t do well with vaccinations. Therefore it’s our duty to ensure that we decrease the prevalence of a disease within a population so that these immune-compromised people are less likely to acquire the disease. This idea forms the basis of herd immunity, which means that through the vaccination of healthy individuals within a population, we indirectly protect those who cannot be vaccinated by decreasing the prevalence of pathogens within a herd. And as we mentioned above, vaccines are just a biological form of a PPE couple this with equipment such as facemasks, gloves, etc., and you actively reduce the risk of exposure to harmful pathogens that cause disease.

3 Reasons Why You Still Need PPE

Have you ever wondered if you could still get a disease after being vaccinated? You definitely can! And that’s simply because it takes time for the body to develop and build up immunity to a specific pathogen. PPE’s or Personal Protective Equipment act as physical barriers that keep a pathogen from entering your body, or they can stop a pathogen from spreading. Regardless of whether you’re vaccinated or not PPE is crucial when it comes to staying safe and healthy.

They Provide Protection from Other Pathogens Unrelated to COVID.

PPE wasn’t just designed to protect you against COVID-19. Face masks, gloves, and eye-goggles—all these forms of PPE not only act as a barrier against COVID-19 viral particles, but they can also keep you safe against other everyday pathogens like e.coli, noroviruses, and more!

They Keep Others Safe!

As an example, facemasks such as the N95 respirator keep pathogens from entering your body. While at the same time, if a person is infected with COVID-19, then the facemask can contain a viral pathogen and prevent it from spreading. Bacteria, bugs, and viruses can lay laden within the cracks of our hands. By wearing PPE such as gloves, we can actively stop them from transmitting onto surfaces and others. So, while a person may be vaccinated for a disease, they can still act as a vector to spread disease from person-to-person or person-to-object. The use of PPE post-vaccination will prevent and reduce the risk of pathogen spread through the environment.

They Keep You Safe!

As we mentioned above, it takes time for immunity to develop post-vaccination. This means that post-vaccination, you can still be susceptible to acquiring a disease. However, by wearing the appropriate PPE, you’ll be able to protect yourself by actively decreasing the chance of catching a disease.

Original Article from CNBC – Link above

For the first time since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the U.S. is reporting a weekly average of more than 2,000 Covid-19 deaths every day, according to data from Johns Hopkins University, as infections rip through the country and record hospitalizations tax the nation’s health-care system.

More than 2,600 people died from Covid on Friday after more than 2,800 fatalities were reported on Thursday, a single-day record of the pandemic. More than 2,000 people have died everyday from the virus since the month began.

The U.S. reported more than 227,800 Covid-19 cases on Friday, a record-breaking spike as more people are hospitalized with the virus than at any other point during the pandemic.

The U.S. is reporting a record weekly average of 182,663 cases a day as states work to catch up to normal reporting schedules after building a backlog over the Thanksgiving holiday, according to a CNBC analysis of data compiled by Johns Hopkins.

However, the nation’s hospitals are reporting a record number of patients — 101,276 people — sickened with Covid-19, a sign that the outbreak is growing more severe, according to data from the COVID Tracking Project, which is run by journalists at The Atlantic.

“The reality is December and January and February are going to be rough times. I actually believe they’re going to be the most difficult in the public health history of this nation, largely because of the stress that’s going to be put on our health-care system,” said Dr. Robert Redfield, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on Wednesday.

In a dire warning on Wednesday, President-elect Joe Biden said that 250,000 more people are projected to die from Covid “because people aren’t paying attention.” More than 279,000 people in the U.S. have already died since the pandemic began and more than 14.3 million have been infected with the virus, according to Johns Hopkins data.

To slow the virus’ spread, Biden said on Thursday that he would mandate mask wearing on all federal property and on interstate transportation as soon as he’s sworn in. He said he would also ask all Americans to wear a mask for 100 days to reduce transmission.

“Just 100 days to mask,” Biden said. “Not forever. 100 days.”

The wave of Covid patients is adding stress to hospital systems nationwide. States like New York, Massachusetts and Rhode Island have erected field hospitals to prepare for an influx of sick patients.

Unlike the spring when the rush of coronavirus patients spurred health-care workers from across the country to travel to hotspots like New York to help treat the sick, hospital systems across the country are facing their own emergencies with no room to spare, experts say.

“If we talked about these two issues of capacity and staffing, it’s really about having the staff to care for people,” Nancy Foster, vice president of quality and patient safety at the American Hospital Association, told CNBC earlier this week. “You can get creative without a bed, but nurses and doctors and respiratory therapist and other staff are critical. And you can’t just invent those overnight.”

Health-care workers will be spread thin as the number of patients grows, with some of them falling ill with Covid-19 themselves.

While the medical community has learned how to better treat Covid-19 patients, “the number one risk for dying from coronavirus in the hospital is whether or not doctors and nurses are overwhelmed, overstretched, or if they have the time to spend with every single patient really carefully monitoring everything,” Dr. Celine Gounder, a Covid-19 advisor to Biden and an infectious disease specialist at the NYU Grossman School of Medicine, told MSNBC on Thursday.

Health experts advise against holiday travel

Covid-19 cases were already on the rise before Thanksgiving when more than 3 million people traveled through the nation’s airports, marking the busiest travel weekend since lockdown orders hit in mid-March. The CDC now advises that people avoid traveling and gathering through the winter holidays.

“I know how difficult that is, we all have a strong degree of empathy knowing — and myself included — about wanting to be with your family, wanting to have a large Christmas dinner with family and friends over,” White House coronavirus advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci told MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” on Thursday.

“Right now that just should not be done. To the best of our capabilities we should avoid travel and avoid congregate settings,” he said.

The U.S. is likely to see a “surge upon a surge” of Covid-19 cases, with crowds of shoppers and ill-advised holiday parties threatening to compound an already raging outbreak, Fauci told Colorado Gov. Jared Polis on Tuesday.

“If you look across the United States, we are really in a public health crisis right now,” Fauci said. “Now that we’re in the mid to late fall, merging on into the winter, we’ve seen, because a variety of circumstances, a surge that has really surpassed the others.”

Earlier this week, the CDC also announced new shortened alternatives to its recommended quarantine for people who were exposed to someone with Covid-19. The agency now suggests that someone can end quarantine after 10 days if the person has not developed any symptoms, Dr. Henry Walke, the CDC’s Covid incident manager, said.

Quarantine can end after just seven days if the asymptomatic person also tests negative for the virus, he said. Some public health experts, however, have criticized the new guidance, saying that it would’ve been better to provide services such as free food delivery or even lost wage compensation to encourage compliance with the previously recommended 14-day quarantine.

Vaccines near authorization

Two companies — Pfizer and Moderna — have now applied for emergency authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for their coronavirus vaccines, which could be given the green light at some point in mid-December.

The U.K. on Wednesday became the first country to authorize Pfizer’s vaccine, which it developed with BioNTech, paving the way to begin inoculating its population as early as next week.

With vaccines doses inching near distribution, infectious disease experts like Fauci have said there’s “light at the end of the tunnel” while urging people to continue following recommended public health measures like mask wearing and social distancing until doses are delivered and the population is vaccinated.

Moncef Slaoui, chief science advisor for the White House’s Operation Warp Speed, told The Washington Post in a livestream interview on Tuesday that the entire U.S. population could be vaccinated by June, and there could be enough doses to immunize the rest of the nearly 8 billion people in the world by early to mid-2022.

However, the World Health Organization is concerned that “there is a growing perception that the pandemic is over,” Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Friday.

“The truth is that at preset, many places are witnessing very high transmission of the virus, which is putting enormous pressure on hospitals, intensive-care units and health workers” Tedros said during a press briefing.

— CNBC’s Will Feuer and Christina Wilkie contributed to this report.

PPE Products For Food Service Businesses

The American food industry is one of the largest in the country if not the world, topping 5.3 trillion USD in sales back in 2015. The large number of sales comes primarily from various types of products sold in drug stores, grocery stores, mass merchandisers, butcheries, canneries, food packaging etc. That’s why it stands to reason that the food and retail industry are amongst the most heavily regulated. Food is a serious product, and it is directly linked to public health as well as having economic consequences.

Personal Protection Equipment has been used in the food industry for decades before COVID-19. Things have not changed much since COVID-19, because the processes were designed to ensure that viruses and other contaminants didn’t make it into the food supply.

The Importance of PPE in the Food Processing Industry

Using Personal Protective Equipment in the food industry helps benefit many people, including employees working for the business, customers and even the products.

Benefit to Customers

The American consumer trusts that their food is going to be safe, be of the best quality and clean. To ensure customer safety and to protect the brand’s reputation, many businesses in the industry ensure that their employees are wearing proper workwear regardless of where they may be in the food processing chain. The use of PPEs in this regard helps prevent the spread of deadly viruses like COVID-19 as well as contamination of other substances. Plus, it ensures that the products are hygienic and often pass stringent spot checks.

Benefit for Employees

According to the Bureau of Labor Statics, many different injuries can befall workers in the food processing industry. However, the most danger posed to these people is exposure to viruses, bacteria and germs, which can lead them to get sick. Wearing the right PPE helps protect them from contracting diseases and consequently spreading them.

Avoiding Contamination of Food Products

Wearing PPEs ensures that food products aren’t contaminated by salmonella, E. coli, Hepatitis and COVID-19. Plus when these products are protected and hygienic, they taste better, offer superior texture, and the overall quality is of the highest grade. All of these factors contribute to customers’ satisfaction which improves the brand’s reputation.

Put on a mask…. Seriously.

The Effectiveness of PPE

Businesses in the food processing industry will always want to choose PPEs that are of the best quality, disposable and yet tear-resistant. All of which ensures that the equipment offers the most protection. Many experts recommend disposable PPEs because they are more effective, given how they are used. Numerous studies over the years have shown that laundering fabric can wear it down, and that increases the risk of holes and tears which negates having them.

Here is what every person working in the food processing industry who has any contact with food should wear:

  • Aprons – ideally disposable
  • Smocks and gowns which can be with hoods or without them
  • Boot covers and shoe covers
  • Sleeve clovers

Conclusion

Businesses in the food processing industry already know just how essential PPEs are to their brand reputation. However, they need to be focusing now on their employees wearing high-quality PPEs more than ever before.

Another shady PPE “dealer” has been busted in Houston, TX recently. While Covid-19 rages across the US (again), more and more people are finally realizing the importance of PPE. Unfortunately there is always a small percentage of scam artists who attempt to prey upon people during a crisis. These types of scams are generally common during storm season or right after a natural disaster. Thankfully many of them have been caught and stopped.

You can read more about the article here: https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/crime/article/houston-company-owner-fraud-charges-n95-mask-covid-15570018.php

The best way to avoid these types of shady characters is to deal with reputable companies. Quite often “too good to be true” deals are exactly that. Thankfully the FBI caught this character and shut down his operation.

The team here at LFB3 prides themselves in hard work, honesty and transparency. We don’t “overbook” our orders and we don’t offer products that we do not have in stock. We deal with a large number of clients, and treat each clients safety as we would our own family members.

Building trust and longevity with our clients is just one of our many goals here at LFB3. While doing that, we also have to expose the “dark side” of the industry. Beware of individuals who boast having trillions of KN95 masks in stock.

A few months ago there was a national shortage on almost all PPE products and delivery times were stretched into almost a 3 – 4 month shipping delay. We were fortunate enough to use our resources to find reputable companies here in the USA and abroad that were able supply and ship in a fraction of that time.

Not all of our clients have the time leave reviews, but our client list keeps growing. Some of the larger hotel chains, gyms, restaurants and universities in the country trust LFB3. There is good reason for it too. We offer retail and wholesale PPE to everyone at a fair price with fast shipping.

Stay Safe!

Still need a reason to buy PPE?

Personal Protective Equipment or PPE, as it’s called, is equipment that’s used to protect against safety and health risks. PPE includes helmets, clothing, harnesses, goggles and footwear. All employers have a duty to ensuring that their employees are provided with the right PPE at work.

However, in this day and age, the use of Personal Protective Equipment stretches beyond just the workplace. In this article, we’ll look at 5 reasons why anyone should consider purchasing PPE products.

It Helps Prevent You from Being Liable for Injuries

One of the first things that happen when you apply for workers’ compensation insurance is that the decision is made often based on if you were wearing PPE. If you were not wearing PPE at the workplace or a worksite, you are liable for your injuries, and the insurance provider may not have to pay compensation. At the same time, it varies from case to case, but if a court of law finds you responsible for a workplace injury or illness, it can be financially taxing. It means that you pay for your medical expenses out of pocket.

Wearing PPE Helps Prevent Various Cancers From Chemical Exposure

Back in 2017, it was estimated that around 3000 Americans were diagnosed with a rare type of cancer. Usually, this is because of their exposure to some chemicals and compounds at their worksite. The majority of reported cases, i.e. around 80%, were from exposure to asbestos fibres found in construction materials.

The present safety regulations require that people who handle asbestos should wear PPE, plus they should take a shower and change prior to leaving the worksite. That said, if you are not wearing a PPE, then you’re putting yourself at great risk.

Accidents Do Happen

Let’s face it regardless of how careful we are; accidents can happen, which is why, at the very least, you should be wearing safety glasses, which is the most basic form of PPE. Any substance like a corrosive chemical or a fuming acid, for instance, can damage your eyes. Wearing this PPE will help shield you from potential accidents.

It is estimated that around 61% of eye injuries happen in the manufacturing industry, trade jobs and the construction industry. That’s why wearing PPE eyewear is so important.

It Improves the Quality of Work

Wearing a PPE improves the quality of your work. If you work in a physically demanding or hazardous environment, then wearing a PPE will make you feel safer, allowing you to work better with minimal physical risk.

PPEs like weight belts offer stability for certain duties, which means the difference between straining your muscles and lifting with relative ease.

It Prevents You from Getting Sick

PPEs like masks and shields help prevent you from getting sick by catching a virus from another infected person. Not to mention that this type of PPE can be worn by anyone in any work environment to keep themselves safe. Furthermore, this type of PPE is cheap, easy to find and highly effective at ensuring your safety.

Plastered across numerous social media channels and news outlets, you’ll find the latest updates on COVID-19. The notorious pandemic of 2020 seems to be stirring up controversy amongst people across the world. On one side of the spectrum, people are taking the initiative to wear the appropriate PPE (facemasks and gloves), and on the other hand, some seem to think COVID-19 is nothing more but the flu.

Will we see a second and third climb in cases?

If the POTUS can Catch COVID, Why Risk It?

Early this month, the US. President Donald Trump tested positive for COVID-19. The President had undoubtedly become infamous for not encouraging social distancing and the use of facemasks. More recently, the President downplayed the pandemic’s severity by making false claims and comparing it to the common flu. On October 2nd, 2020, both President Donald Trump and the first tested positive for COVID-19. The President was recently in contact with his advisor Hope Hicks, who tested positive for COVID-19 early this week.

So, What Exactly is COVID-19? And Why Do Face Masks Matter?

COVID-19 is a viral pathogen that belongs to the family known as Coronaviridae. There are many different “types” of coronaviruses out there, and these have existed in animal populations for centuries. The virus we know today as COVID-19 originated from Wuhan City, a province in China, which continues to spread throughout the human community.

Those infected with the virus develop severe and acute respiratory diseases. Transmission of the viral particles occurs through droplets, aerosol, and fomites. So this means that sneezing, coughing, discharge, and saliva will all have the potential to spread the Coronavirus.

Anyone can contract the virus; those who do contract it may be asymptomatic (they show no clinical signs) or display a range of clinical symptoms such as sneezing, coughing, and fever. The immuno-naive individuals, such as the elderly, children, or those with pre-existing medical conditions, are most susceptible to contracting this viral pathogen and so protecting those individuals becomes a priority.

Alright, so what’s PPE? and do we need it?

PPE, aka personal protective equipment, includes a range of items that are designed to contain viruses and bacteria. Containment of the virus will thus prevent a cycle of transmission. As we mentioned earlier, COVID-19 spreads from human-to-human, and it can also spread from objects-to-humans.

Personal protective equipment such as facemasks act as a barrier and break the transmission cycle. For instance, if a person with COVID wears a face mask, they inevitably contain the virus within that face make, and so they reduce the risk of spreading the virus to other people. In contrast, wearing a facemask will prevent a healthy person from contracting the COVID as the mask directly blocks the virus from entering your nasal cavity and mouth.

The CDC currently recommends using N95 respirators to reduce the risk of contracting COVID-19. The N95 respirator is a type of facemask designed to filter out various particles, both gaseous and viral. Healthcare professionals mainly wear these types of surgical masks as they are at a higher risk of contracting COVID-19 on a day-to-day basis.

It’s Time for A Wake Up Call.

Mr.Trump gained a lot of fame for notoriously downplaying the pandemic. On multiple occasions, he shunned away from the CDC’s recommendations on social distancing and PPE use; recently, his latest social media post comparing COVID-19 to the common flu sparked outrage amongst members of the medical community.

The Top Selling PPE Products Of 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic has now put personal protective equipment at the forefront of everybody’s priorities. Whether you are a healthcare worker, someone who works at Walmart, or even someone who wants to grab a quick bite at MacDonald’s, it is now impossible without wearing the right PPE. So, the question is, what are the most popular PPE products of 2020? We’ve spoken to a couple of industry experts and have the results for you below.

Face Masks – Everybody is Wearing Them

We’d have to say that face masks are the biggest winners here. If anything, the demand for face masks at the start of March 2020 went up by 200%, and that later quadrupled. Not only are N95s now, some of the most sought-after face masks, but many businesses are now getting into the PPE industry because the demand for face masks is at an all-time high. However, the biggest sellers would have to be disposable cloth masks. In some countries, disposable face masks are still being sold at a premium mainly because demand outweighs supply. It may remain like this at least until the threat of the pandemic looms.

Gloves – Latex, Disposable plastic gloves and others

Protective gloves are now the second most in-demand PPE products. In the past, gloves would only be worn by employees in the food industry. However, now just about anyone and everyone needs to wear a pair of gloves regardless of its type. Though not unsurprisingly, the most commonly worn type is disposable plastic gloves. Not only are they cheap, but they provide adequate protection so that anyone can wear them.

Gloves help protect wearers from the COVID-19 virus by preventing it from making contact with the skin. Since researchers discovered that COVID-19 spread through skin contact, it seems as though the demand for gloves more than quadrupled overnight. Today, everyone who goes to buy groceries to the person working as a valet needs to be wearing gloves, making it an essential PPE.

Hand Sanitizers

While hand sanitizers don’t prevent COVID-19, the way masks and gloves do; they are nevertheless an important part of preventing the spread of the virus. That’s why it is also one of the essential PPE products that, at one point, was hard to find. While supplies in most stores for hand sanitizer is replenished, for the most part, there are still strict limits on how much you can purchase. Not to mention that the demand has led to many knockoffs and low-quality imitations being sold online.

Hand sanitizers work by making sure that your hands are thoroughly sanitized. Doing this prevents the spread of the virus from contact, especially if you shake hands or touch something contaminated.

Conclusion

Now it is more important than it ever was to ensure that you have the right PPE equipment. Always make sure that you have enough hand sanitizer, gloves and face masks. If you have kids, then make sure that you have kids’ size PPE equipment in stock at all times.

Channel 2 Action News has confirmed that photos were taken on the first day of school around dismissal time at North Paulding High School by a 10th grade student named Hannah.

One photo showed a packed hallway with dozens of students who appear not to be wearing a mask. Another photo showed at least one student wearing a face mask walking with another student who appeared not to have a mask on.

This comes as area schools confirmed that teachers and students have already tested positive for COVID-19 in just the first couple of days of the school year, while other metro districts continue to monitor the virus to determine how to restart classes for the new school year.

Channel 2 Action News has also obtained a letter sent to parents from the superintendent Paulding County Schools, Dr. Brian Otott.

“There is no question that the photo does not look good. I can understand if your first reaction was one of concern,” Otott said in the letter.

The superintendent said the main photo circulating on social media has been taken out of context.

“Some individuals on social media are taking this photo and using it without context to criticize our school reopening efforts,” Otott said. “Under the COVID-19 protocols we have adopted, class changes that look like this may happen, especially at a high school with more than 2,000 students.”

The superintendent said the district has more than 33,000 students who are currently learning in person and virtually and that they anticipated adjustments will be needed.

“The Department of Public Health state exposure to COVID-19 occurs after ‘Being within 6 feet of sick person with COVID-19 for about 15 minutes,” Otott said.

“One area where we have received a good deal of feedback is mask use in our schools. Wearing a mask is a personal choice and there is no practical way to enforce a mandate to wear them. What we will do is continue to strongly encourage all students and staff to wear masks.”

As official health guidelines on wearing face coverings in public shift, some parents are wondering whether their children should be wearing masks when they go outside.

The answer, in short, is yes.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, should wear “cloth face coverings” when they are “in the community setting” to help stop the spread of the .

Other from “simple cloth … fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials,” noting that people should not wear surgical masks or N-95 respirators needed by health care workers and medical first responders.

Dr. Deborah Gilboa, a family physician and youth development speaker, said that since children are more likely to spread the virus, they should wear masks as often as possible.

“Kids are much more likely to be asymptotic carriers or presymptomatic carriers, so … we do a lot of good when we say, ‘Hey, in addition to washing your hands, and please stop licking things, we’d also like you to wear a mask,'” Gilboa told TODAY Parents. “We really want to slow and stop the spread of this, and we’re seeing in data from other countries that kids are actively involved, entirely accidentally, in spreading this.”

Beware Of This Online Scam Involving PPE

Over the past few month, business has been painfully slow for most companies but it’s a busy time for cyberthieves. Scams involving email orders are on the rise as distributors and suppliers, eager for business, may relax their usual safety procedures and overlook the red flags in hopes of landing new business.

One such scam has recently been reported involving an elaborate phishing scheme targeting buyers and sellers of personal protective equipment (PPE) and involving a seasoned industry distributor and an importer previously used by the distributor.

In short, the distributor received an email from the importer looking for a buyer for three million available N95 face masks that were shipped from China. The distributor, Tonia Allen Gould, CEO of Tagsource, LLC, was intrigued and began asking questions. She quickly realized something wasn’t right and did her own sleuthing to confirm it was a scam. She offers a warning to other industry companies to be wary of unexpected orders that look too good to be true. “The promotional products industry is ripe for the picking because we have buyer/distributor/supplier/importer/factory relationships,” she says. “We are one industry that has the full supply chain in our back pockets.”

In general, know what to look for whenever doing business online:

  1. Look for poor spelling or grammar.
  2. Notice whether they ask for personal details in an email; your bank will never ask for security information or account information in an email.
  3. Don’t open attachments or click links if it’s from someone you don’t know or if you are not expecting it.
  4. Be wary of orders from new customers submitted through your website. Scams often start with asking for a quote on a large quantity of items, especially USB drives and blank t-shirts.
  5. Do not reply to spam. Educate your staff on this practice, too.
  6. Practice good security measures. For example, create a strong password and do not reuse your email password on other services. Enable encryption in your email settings. Use antivirus software and keep it updated, and set Windows to automatically update or install all security updates. Use a reputable company to host your email and ecommerce.
  7. When shipping offshore, be wary of a shipping address that is a private residence.
  8. Research the address on Google Maps, which often provides snapshots of what a building looks like. Sometimes this step can help filter out fraudulent orders.
  9. Check the company’s website to ensure that the address and phone number match the information on the order. Click links on the website to make sure it’s legitimate too.
  10. Scammers almost always pay by credit card. Before you establish open credit for an unfamiliar company, look it up in Dun & Bradstreet.
  11. Be sure the company is legitimate by checking it out on Google and then calling to check.
  12. Generic domain email addresses such as @hotmail.com are often tip-offs to a scam. Check it out first.
  13. Use caution if the requester offers to pay immediately by credit card or requests immediate shipment.
  14. Know the person or company to whom you are selling. If you don’t know them, find someone you know who does.
